Guess what I did on my Day off ?

So, last Saturday I was getting ready to enjoy a full day off from work. No interviews. No producers. No deadlines. I had it all planned out.
First, I would head downtown to get my haircut. Then, my friends and I would hang out and maybe go to the mall. (I was looking forward to buying a new shirt to wear.) I was also scheduled to meet my new friend I mentor at the local elementary school in town. I wanted to treat him to a movie for having a good report card.
But, then I got a phone call.
It was my boss asking me to work for the anchors who were both sick with the flu. For a minute, I thought I was going to be asked to anchor. Of course, after 2 years I knew better.
Instead, I was asked to report and I couldn't of asked for a better assignment. President Bill Clinton was in town making an apperance for his wife, Hillary.
It was my first time being in the same room with a president. It was an awesome experience. Well, you know I've covered similar events while reporting in Iowa. Dick Cheney, John Edwards, John Kerry, etc. I've seen it all, but this one was different.
Although, I didn't get to interview the former president. I did capture a picture of him signing books for his fans. That's as close as secret service would allow us. For me, it was enough.
How many times does a president visit your community, right?
