The last two and a half years have been amazing! I learned many new things working as a news director and anchor/producer. It was my first time at a PBS and NPR station. Although, I had previously volunteered for my own public station growing up in Chicago this I have to admit was nothing like I imagined. KRWG let me create my own segments ("Nuestra Comunidad," "The Music Spotlight," and "iFitness,") which we were able to spin-off into half hour programs. I also anchored and produced "Fronteras: A Changing America," and "Your Legislators." They were all amazing shows to be a part of every week. Being in Las Cruces, gave me the chance to be in a movie with an Oscar-nominated director and I was able to produce a mini-documentary (my first EMMY nod) and meet so many wonderful people both at the station and in the community. I'll definitely miss this place! California here I come....

I'll also be getting fit at my new gym. Very exciting times!! I think it's a great opportunity to start planning the next two years in regards to my career, my health and my retirement. My old job is giving me a financial boost so the rest is truly up to me. Thank you God for giving me this moment. I have 8 shows left to tape for my station. It's been a great experience working in the Las Cruces, New Mexico/El Paso, Texas market. There are so many interesting and unique people here. I've enjoyed my stay. I started to meet so many people interested in fitness and I hope that continues in California because I always need some inspiration and motivation to guide me on my journey. Today, I'm taping a show with Cristina Parker of the Border Network for Human Rights. Next week, the finale. I haven't spent too much time on here, but I'm working on changing that for good. Sometimes life gets too busy or you just don't access to a computer or the Internet. Hopefully this app will fix things. We'll see! The good news is I haven't given up on any of my fitness goals. I set them up with my buddy and former trainer/workout partner, Christian back on August 16, 2011. I can't believe it's been almost a year! Thank goodness I'm half way there. Well, if you don't know yet I'm in the middle of yet another move. My career keeps me going. In three weeks I will be a resident of California. I'm excited about my new assignment and the adventures that lie ahead. Wish me luck!!!<blogitemurl>

Just kidding! Sometime last year, I was introduced to Zumba Fitness (thanks Michael Garcia) and didn't realize the exercise was as popular as Herbal Life Nutrition Shops, which are popping up all over El Paso and Las Cruces. After my original story, I decided to do another Zumba-related story, but this time it was going to be about one of the most popular instructors in our area (again, thanks Michael Garcia.) Months later, I was looking on doing another fitness segment and came across a local class being taught in Las Cruces. It's name Aqua Zumba, which brings the aerobic moves into the swimming pool. Neat idea huh?
What an exciting time and boy I was inspired this week meeting many of the athletes some in their 80's and many in their 70's. These men and women were awesome! You burn off so many calories all while getting a good tan (if you're outdoors). If you're like me and can't swim - then it's really intriguing watching others dive into the pool, moving around like fish. For this week's iFitness I went to visit LCAT, Las Cruces Aquatic Team and talked about swimming as an exercise. Watch this:

Well, it's really not new, but it's new to me. I saw young men running towards walls followed by back flips. Some, even jumped off high structures all while twisting and turning. It was like capoeria, but flying. So, I thought to myself this would be a great activity to feature on iFitness because all you're doing is moving, and jumping, and running. What a workout! Here's the video enjoy!

I have a lot of memories from my time reporting the news in the City of Bridges (Tom Arnold's hometown). Since, it was my first time away from home, from family and my friends, I thought creating a site (to accompany the now defunct carloscorrea.com) would help keep my loved ones updated on my career as a broadcast journalist. With a little research, I did it. My blog was born. There are really no exciting posts published in the early days and some may argue the same now, but my audience back then was just my immediate family. Blogging has blossomed over the years, social networks have exploded (I have those too!), "my blog audience,"has expanded and I'm thankful everyday that I get to follow my childhood dream of being a broadcast journalist. I've interviewed so many people, the movers and shakers of different communities, celebrities, politicians and people who just inspire me. I've been on local news, national news, online and even earned my first EMMY nomination last year. I am so very grateful. Thank you GOD! I hope I can continue to reach out, motivate, and help others in the years to come. Happy Anniversary Blog...this video is for you :)

Carlos Correahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17123736895938447191noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10336083.post-409655313970107512011-01-21T10:07:00.001-08:002011-01-21T10:07:56.349-08:00iFitness - No. 17

This week we wrap up our series on the Supreme Assailant for iFitness on www.krwg.org Check it out!Carlos Correahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17123736895938447191noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10336083.post-35866194388051069462011-01-18T20:03:00.000-08:002011-01-18T20:13:35.643-08:00Flashback: KTVO (ABC)

Thought I'd share this video I have online. Verizon announced today it will start selling a version of the iPhone starting February 10th (make sure you write that one down in the calendar.) To be honest, I don't know much about Verizon, but I've only heard good things about it. In fact, back in December 2005 I was looking for a new cell phone provider and saw Verizon had good coverage for where I live now. I ended up with Sprint thinking I was going to live in Iowa for at least two more years, but out of no where I ended up moving to Missouri for a job and cancelled my service. What a waste of money -- $150 just to break my contract. ANYWAY, I currently have AT&T and the service is okay. It's not great, but workable. I don't know if I should switch? HELP!

Carlos Correahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17123736895938447191noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10336083.post-58993434298238597362011-01-11T12:47:00.000-08:002011-01-11T13:04:05.567-08:00UPDATE: Tucson Shootings(TUCSON, AZ) -- Good news!
